We're not in the business of selling your data. Here's exactly what we collect, why, and where it goes.
1. What we collect
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email, username | Your account, login, and any emails we send about your account (VIP confirmation, password reset) |
| Discord ID, avatar, username | If you sign in with Discord or link it — used to grant your VIP role and let you post under that identity |
| Google account info | If you sign in with Google — just enough to create and identify your account |
| IP address | Fraud prevention (one account per IP) and blocking abusive traffic (bots, scrapers, download tools) |
| Watch history, progress, bandwidth used | So "resume where you left off" works, and to catch bulk-downloading abuse |
| Payment records | Crypto invoice details (chain, amount, transaction hash) or, for card payments, whatever our payment partner sends us — we don't see or store your card number |
| Messages you post | Lesson discussions, forum posts, and DMs are stored so the features work — they're visible to whoever the feature shows them to |
2. What we don't do
- We don't sell your data. Ever.
- We don't hand your email or Discord ID to advertisers.
- We never see or store your actual card number — that's handled entirely by our payment partner.
3. Who else sees it
A few outside services touch your data because they run part of the platform:
- Discord & Google — for sign-in, if you use them.
- Cloudflare — hosts our video/file storage and sits in front of the site for security and performance.
- Our payment partner — processes credit card payments; crypto payments settle directly on the relevant blockchain, which is public by nature.
- Meta (Facebook) Pixel — runs on our homepage to measure ad performance. See our Cookie Policy for details.
- Our email provider — sends account and VIP-related emails.
We don't share more than each of these needs to do its job.
4. How long we keep it
We keep account and activity data for as long as your account exists, plus a reasonable window after in case you come back or a payment needs to be looked into. If you want your data deleted sooner, ask us — see contact below.
5. Your rights
You can ask us to show you what we have on your account, correct something that's wrong, or delete your account and associated data. Reach out and we'll take care of it, minus anything we're required to keep for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.
6. Security
Passwords are hashed, not stored in plain text. Access to the underlying data is limited to the people running the platform. No system is unbreakable, but we take reasonable steps to keep your info safe.
7. Age
Guru Academy is meant for adults running or starting a business. It's not intended for anyone under 18, and we don't knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Changes
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll post an update here and, when it matters, let you know directly.
9. Contact
Questions, requests, or concerns about your data: our Discord or support@guru-academy.vercel.app.
